Wedding + Event Floral Design Services
Flying Bear offers elopement and small celebration designs on South Whidbey Island. We are a small, community farmer-florist coven of talented designers, specializing in intimate, natural, creative and sustainable celebrations. Our design aesthetic is magical and agrarian, drawing beauty from our small farm, the wild woods and the wheel of seasons here on our lush, verdant island.
We are dedicated to utilizing local, sustainably grown materials in all of our creations! If we are not growing a particular variety, we source first from other farmers we know and love in our community. We work 100% foam-free and utilize sustainable floral design methods that align with our values. We are fully inclusive and welcome all kinds of love!
Due to the impacts of global instability, the climate crisis and a great deal of change within our own family floral business, we are no longer doing custom proposals or large weddings, and are instead offering a seasonal "florist's choice" a la carte menu of offerings within the container of our signature Flying Bear style. You get to choose the general color story, what elements you want to include (aka how many bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, etc), and we create your wedding flowers with the freshest seasonal blooms available the week of your wedding...a snap shot in time of what is most beautiful and alive at that moment in the PNW.
This means we don't source specific blooms en masse from the big global wholesalers, which cuts down on our stress and negative impacts on the environment. We are also cutting down on emails back and forth, making it possible for us to focus on what we do best, growing and creating with intention and flow. If you know you love our style and ethos, trust in our ability to create something magical just for you.

FAQ
Can you do green/eucalyptus garlands for our tables?
No, we don't offer those! We are working on finding a great source for direct-from-farm purchase of eucalyptus garland and will share that here when we find it!
Can you get peonies in August/September/the winter?
No, unfortunately we can't! They are one of our favorite blooms, partly for their ephemeral nature. Peony season for us is usually late May through June. Some peonies are grown in Alaska, where they have a later season. These are extremely expensive and not something that we will order. We are working on find a great direct-from-farm source for these too!
What is in season at the time of my event?
It somewhat depends on the year, as nature has it's own ideas about when things will happen. However, a great resource is on the Seattle Wholesale Grower's Market Co-op website HERE. Also take a look back in our Instagram page to get a sense for what might be available.
Do you do bulk buckets of stems that I can design with myself?
No, we don't do bulk or wholesale buckets anymore (we used to when we were just a beginning farm!). We love referring people to Fivestone Flowers www.fivestoneflowers.com and Full Cycle Farm www.fullcyclefarm.com
Can I tell you what flowers I want in my bouquet?
Yes! We love to know what your favorite flowers are! And because we are dedicated to what's in season and local, there's a chance we won't be able to source everything you love, or something really exotic. We will absolutely do our best to include the blooms that are most meaningful to you.
